About Exam:
The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has announced the Security Assistant/Executive (SA/Exe) Examination 2025 for recruitment to Group C, Non-Gazetted posts. A total of 4987 vacancies are available across various Subsidiary Intelligence Bureaux (SIBs) in India. Candidates must apply for their respective state/UT only and possess domicile and knowledge of the local language/dialect. Eligibility Criteria (As on 17 August 2025):

  • Educational Qualification: Matriculation (10th class pass) or equivalent from a recognized board
  • Domicile Requirement: Candidate must possess domicile certificate for the applied state/UT
  • Language Requirement: Must have knowledge of the local language/dialect mentioned for the respective SIB
  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 27 years

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • Central Govt. Civilian Employees (3+ years service): Up to 40 years
  • Widows/Divorced Women: Up to 35 years (UR), 38 years (OBC), 40 years (SC/ST)
  • Ex-Servicemen: As per government norms

Desirable Qualification:

  • Field experience in intelligence work

Pay Scale & Allowances:

  • Level-3: ₹21,700 – ₹69,100 (Pay Matrix)
  • Special Security Allowance: 20% of basic pay
  • Holiday Duty Compensation: In cash up to 30 days per year
  • Other Central Government Allowances: Admissible as per rules

Application Fee:

  • General/OBC/EWS (Male): ₹650 (₹100 Examination Fee + ₹550 Processing Charges)
  • SC/ST, All Female Candidates, Eligible Ex-Servicemen: ₹550 (Only Processing Charges)

Selection Process:
The selection will be conducted in three stages:

Tier I – Computer-Based Test (Objective Type)

  • Duration: 1 Hour
  • Total Questions: 100 (20 from each section)
    • General Awareness
    • Quantitative Aptitude
    • Reasoning
    • English Language
    • General Studies
  • Marking: 1 mark per question
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 mark per wrong answer

Tier II – Descriptive Test & Spoken Ability

  • Translation Test:
    • Translation of 500-word passage (Local Language ↔ English) – 40 Marks
    • Duration: 1 Hour
    • Qualifying Marks: Minimum 20 out of 50
  • Spoken Ability Test: 10 Marks (assessed during Tier III)

Tier III – Interview / Personality Test

  • Marks: 50
  • Focus: Communication skills, suitability, personality, general awareness

Tier I Syllabus (Highlights):

  • General Awareness & General Studies: Current affairs, Indian history, geography, polity, economy, environment, science, awards, sports
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Number system, percentages, averages, time & work, mensuration, ratios
  • Reasoning: Puzzles, blood relations, coding-decoding, seating arrangement, series, syllogism
  • English Language: Grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, idioms, sentence improvement
