The Indian Coast Guard conducts the Assistant Commandant (AC) 01/2027 Batch recruitment to select eligible male candidates for the General Duty and Technical branches as Group ‘A’ Gazetted Officers. The recruitment involves a five-stage selection process including computer-based tests, psychological and group assessments, medical evaluation, and final induction for training at the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala.

Branch-Wise Vacancy Details:

  • General Duty (GD): 140 Posts (UR: 46 | OBC: 35 | SC: 25 | ST: 24 | EWS: 10)
  • Technical (Engineering/Electrical/Electronics): 30 Posts (UR: 13 | OBC: 08 | SC: 03 | ST: 04 | EWS: 02)

Eligibility Criteria (As on 01 July 2026):

1. General Duty (GD) (Male):

  • Age: 21 to 25 Years
  • Born Between: 01 July 2001 to 30 June 2005
  • Education: Graduation with 60% marks & 10+2 with Physics & Mathematics (or Diploma with PCM)
  • Final-Year Students Eligible (Degree submission by 31 October 2026)

2. Technical (Engineering/Electrical/Electronics) (Male):

  • Age: 21 to 25 Years (same as GD)
  • Education: B.E./B.Tech with 60% marks in one of these disciplines:
    Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Marine, Automotive, Mechatronics, Industrial & Production, Metallurgy, Design, Aeronautical, Aerospace, Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunication, Instrumentation, Instrumentation & Control, Electronics & Communication, Power Engineering, Power Electronics
  • Must have Physics & Mathematics in 10+2 or Diploma
  • AMIE and Diploma+Degree holders also eligible

Medical Standards:

  • Minimum Height: 157 cm (relaxation for hilly/tribal candidates)
  • Vision:
    • GD: 6/6 & 6/9 without glasses
    • Technical: 6/36 uncorrected, 6/6 corrected
  • Tattoos: Allowed only on inner forearms or dorsal hand (non-tribals)

Selection Process – 5 Stages:

  1. Stage-I: CGCAT (Computer-Based Test)
    • 100 MCQs, 400 Marks
    • Subjects: English, Reasoning & Numerical Ability, General Science & Math Aptitude, General Knowledge
    • Duration: 2 Hours
    • Marking: +4 for correct, –1 for wrong answer
    • Normalization of marks applied
  2. Stage-II: Preliminary Selection Board (PSB)
    • Computerised Cognitive Battery Test (CCBT)
    • Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PPDT)
    • Biometric verification & document checking
    • Conducted at 6 zonal centers
  3. Stage-III: Final Selection Board (FSB)
    • 5-day process including Psychological Test, Group Task & Personal Interview
    • Conducted at Noida, Coast Guard Selection Board
  4. Stage-IV: Initial Medical Examination
    • Conducted at Special Medical Board (SMB), New Delhi
    • Appeal & Review Medical Exams allowed
  5. Stage-V: Final Induction & Training
    • Merit list based on combined marks of CGCAT & FSB
    • Naval Orientation Course (NOC) at INA Ezhimala, Kerala
    • Training Duration:
      • GD Branch: 44 Weeks
      • Technical Branch: 22 Weeks
    • Unsatisfactory performance may lead to termination
